Call Me A River by ParaisaDesign Call Me A River by ParaisaDesign
The title is kinda tongue in cheek towards some dogmatic beliefs in India. When you call a woman a river in India, it means a whore. Considering our origins, it is a strange belief.

That's the 1st time I've heard that expression for a woman, considering they bless the Ghanjis river. I'm not too sure, but I thought that river was named after a woman?. Anyway, love how she looks, & she does'nt look like a whore, but a woman of honor. Sadly enough, the story reminds me of Mary Magdeline!

It is a little weird. The age old story of turning women into whores is a common theme. I am sure that paradigm will soon be discreated.

It's in the similar context of a book that came out in the 60's called "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions (1962), by Thomas Khun.[link]

This is a very powerful image, in the message of the journey. It's quite lovely and I can see the strength of woman as we know it, it is too bad they have such a demeaning depiction of this type of corrolation in India, but I can only imagine how difficult a woman's life is there. I just finished reading an article about 15 fetuses that were found in a dump, all but 2 were female. There are apparently a lot of females that are smothered or suffocated and abortions are apparently very cheap there. Sad... but true.

Oh, that is sad. Yes there is a general belief that it is better karma to be born as a man. Although it tends to be worse in areas of greater poverty. But then again, violence is usually more prevalent in areas where people are deprived. The dna of abused children actually mutates. Very sad ... did you ever see the new Zeitgeist movie - tells you a lot about it and is fascinating to watch :

Oooo, I like how you have ghosted your character into the image here and how you have added the painting to her face and skin. It's such a refeshing scene with all that cool water spilling about. Interesting fact about the meaning of a river. It's sad to take away the good qualities of water to tie it to that meaning. boo! Your so right though about the experiences of life. That's why we have to build a sturdy ship so we can enjoy as much of it as we can. Great work! :iconhulaplz:

Thanks Suzi - I made part of her face semi transparent to show the same river of life flowing within her. Yep - it is only our judgments that tend to create polarities. :D Thanks for the kind comments.

Your welcome! I like how you did that. :) She really has a pretty face. Yes, so true. It's best not to judge because you have no idea of the events that have occurred during someone's lifetime. I'm at the half way mark and I still have so many more lessons to learn. ;P

Beautiful! When I meditate I always imagine a scene similar to this background, and it really does help carry me inward. It's so soothing and therapeutic! Love this scene, Delia!

...and Ach! What a rotten belief! Shame on them for that! I like your ending line - it's perfect and so true!
